Cindy Zeiher
for Vladimir Jankélévitch
—who saw through it all
In a world of pleasurable wine and roses
things are ever rotting, slowly crumbling
Balancing the axis so the scene is set to stage the so-called
audacious ‘pioneer’ armed with fictions in hand to flip
Smash-cut to reveal conspicuous deceit on blinding full display
Tossing out strident chosen causes to be caught by any/one
Recoil from creeping bleeding stain laced with pretentious lies
marked only by the strange clarity of cheap talk—
Overseer of morals! Patriarch of capital!
Orator of ideals! Thinker of the now!
All in the guise of keeping checks and balances for the good of
—only one
Step right up! Traverse the harsh limits!
The very point of it all is this!
The current order must be overturned!
Follow me!
Exult!
No bars crossed — No lines drawn — No horizons re/imagined
A sea of ambiguous gazes at once melds the only one into
a short-sighted pariah and incandescent folk hero
The precise point where such perfect and un/realisable
conceit reveal faux common regard and wretched selfdom
walk away
from the
perfect dust-speckled ::g(l)aze::
And
REFUSE
